Jorge Lorenzo aims to build on recent successes by reversing his fortunes at Mugello in the FIM MotoGP World Championship.
The Fiat Yamaha rider went into his team’s home race last season still recovering from injuries to both ankles and failed to finish.
Lorenzo said: “Mugello is, along with Phillip Island, the most beautiful circuit that we race at; I love it.” The Press Association
His win at Le Mans was his second of the season. He also won in Japan.
With the frustration of crashing out in Italy last year, the colourful Spaniard is hopeful of a good points-haul this time round.
“I am feeling very confident after our good race in Le Mans,” the 22-year-old said.
“This year, just to take some points at this track, and at Catalunya, will be an improvement, and that’s my aim.”
Australia’s Chris Vermeulen had his best result of the season when sixth in France, but he will be searching for further improvement from his Suzuki at the Tuscan track.
Despite eighth being his best result in three attempts in Italy, Vermeulen is still hopeful of a top result this weekend. Fox Sports
