MotoGP: Alvaro Bautista Crashes Out During Final Practice at Qatar
Alvaro Bautista is recovering in the Hamad Medical Corporation Hospital in Doha, Qatar after a successful operation to repair his broken left femur.
Suzuki’s only MotoGP rider crashed during Friday’s final practice session for the 2011 season opener at Losail and was taken to the hospital, after preliminary tests at the track showed that he had fractured his thigh bone.
The Spaniard, preparing to start his second season in MotoGP, spent the night in hospital, before going for surgery this morning to re-align and pin the bone. Yahoo! Eurosport UK
A team statement on Saturday said: “Alvaro will be returning to Madrid as soon as his condition is stable enough to allow him to travel.”
A decision has yet to be taken on who will replace the 26-year-old on the grid while he is recuperating.
The statement added: “Alvaro spent a fairly comfortable - but painful - night in the hospital, before going for surgery this morning to re-align and pin the bone.” BBC Sport
