Dani Pedrosa was nowhere near the top when he dropped a 1:38.627 secs. lap on the field at the end of the hour. The lap put him .245 secs. up on Ducati Marlboro’s Casey Stoner, who did the fewest laps of anyone in the field and sat out the last six minutes. Stoner has won the past two British GP’s, despite not liking the track.
Fiat Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi, who hasn’t won here since 2005, finished third .045 secs. behind Stoner. His best lap came in the final two minutes. Cycle News
The day’s earlier 125cc practice session was blighted by heavy rain but the track had dried considerably by the time the top nine crept under the one minute 40 second barrier.
