Casey Stoner, making his 150th Grand Prix start, became the first Honda rider to win three successive MotoGP races since Valentino Rossi in 2003 after dominating the Air Asia British MotoGP at a wet Silverstone circuit in The United Kingdom on Sunday.
Stoner left a wide gap of 15.159 seconds ahead of other racers after clocking 47’53.459s in the 20-lap race. Trailing in second and third place respectively were Stoner’s teammate Andrea Dovizioso and Colin Edwards from Monster Yamaha Tech 3 with 48’08.618 and 48’14.939.
The premiere motorcycle racing championship was marred by dramatic accidents involving Marco Simoncelli, Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies, who fell victim to the soaked track due to continuous downpours from Sunday morning and chilling 11-degree Celsius temperatures.
