Casey Stoner continued to establish his authority in practice for the French Grand Prix after finishing on top in the second session on Friday.
The Australian Honda rider, who in the morning session had already broken the Le Mans circuit record, shattered the benchmark time once again by becoming the first man to lap in the 1m33s.
Stoner’s lap of 1m33.782 was nearly four tenths quicker than his morning’s best and over 0.400 seconds faster than Marco Simoncelli, second fastest.
Stoner’s team-mate Dani Pedrosa, the Spaniard have to settle for third position. Yahoo! Eurosport UK

MotoGP: French Grand Prix - First Practice Results
Nicky Hayden (Ducati Team) produced a late effort to claim the fourth fastest time and finish the highest Ducati. Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha Factory Racing) who has won back to back races here at Le Mans in 2009 and 2010, made a big improvement from his first session of the day, by finding half a second in his lap times to finish fifth.
Sixth was Andrea Dovizioso (Repsol Honda) who has finished on the podium six times at the Le Mans circuit, more rostrum places here than any other circuit. Colin Edwards (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) was seventh and the second fastest Yamaha.
Le Mans is just one of three current circuits where Hiroshi Aoyama (San Carlo Honda Gresini) has not had a podium finish in the 250cc class. The other two circuits are Mugello and Valencia. The Japanese rider was eighth in FP2, 1.177s off Stoner’s time.
Valentino Rossi (Ducati Team) was ninth behind his team mate. The final spot in the top ten went to Ben Spies (Yamaha Factory Racing) who doesn’t have happy memories of this track, after he crashed on his first visit last season. motogp.com
