Valentino Rossi clinched his third MotoGP pole of the season with a fast final lap on a wet track Saturday in crash-marred qualifying for the German Grand Prix.
Rossi’s time of 1 minute, 32.520 seconds gave him his first pole at the German circuit. He relegated Yamaha teammate Jorge Lorenzo of Spain to second place, .64 seconds behind. The two will share the front row for the sixth time this season. USA Today
Joining them in the first line of attack will be fellow title contender Casey Stoner, a further six-tenths down on Rossi’s marker in the qualifying run.
Hayden took his best qualifying result as a Ducati Marlboro rider to date with fourth place, ahead of San Carlo Gresini Honda’s De Angelis and LCR Honda man De Puniet on the second row. MotoGP.com
