Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo snatched pole position ahead of world champion Yahama teammate Valentino Rossi of Italy and Australia’s Casey Stoner for Sunday’s Portuguese MotoGP here.
The Spanish rider clocked 1min 36.214sec on the circuit where he won last year, to keep the pressure on championship rival Rossi, who was second fastest at 0.260sec. AFP
Dani Pedrosa is at the front of the second row on his Repsol Honda after impressing in all three of the day’s sessions, with the Catalan half a second behind Rossi.
Colin Edwards was fifth-fastest on his Monster Yamaha Tech 3 while LCR Honda rider Randy de Puniet does not appear to be showing any ill-effects from an ankle injury suffered over the summer. The Press Association
