Factory Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo bagged top spot in this evening’s second MotoGP free practice session with a very early lap of 1’22.056 while Dani Pedrosa took second place just ahead of his team-mate Casey Stoner with Valentino Rossi down in 11th.
Spaniard Lorenzo, who survived a big cold-tyre moment at the bottom of The Corkscrew late on, set his lap on his ninth circulation of 24 and is a little more than a tenth faster than compatriot Pedrosa while Stoner is only 0.34s further back but all three are still a long way off Lorenzo’s pole of 1’20.978 from last year.
Andrea Dovizioso, on the third Repsol bike, took fourth place with a 1’22.730 with three-time AMA Superbike Champion Ben Spies fifth and half a second off the pace. BSN
