THE new-design 2007 Rizla Suzuki GSX-R1000 will be unveiled at the team’s next test at Almeria in Southern Spain, starting on Monday, February 26th.

Based on the popular and well established Rizla racing blue colour, the 2007 bike features a host of fresh design cues to make the most of the sleek lines of the new GSX-R1000.

Rizla Suzuki riders Chris Walker and Cal Crutchlow will see the new bike for the first time on Monday morning, before taking to the 4.3km-long circuit in the afternoon to continue their preparations for the 2007 British Superbike Championship, which starts on Bank Holiday Monday, April 9th, at the Brands Hatch GP circuit in Kent.

The Almeria test finishes on Wednesday 28th February. The team does not return to the UK though, instead it will travel to the nearby Guadix circuit for its next track outing between March 2nd – 4th.

Rizla Suzuki Team Manager Simon Buckmaster said: “I think the 2007 Rizla Suzuki is the most attractive version of the bike to date. It has been a labour of love using specialist designers to incorporate our sponsors sympathetically to the aggressive lines of the new GSX-R1000. The whole team is looking forward to seeing it in the flesh on Monday.

“The test at Almeria is about a lot more than our new livery though. We made some fantastic progress at Calafat earlier in the month and will be looking to build on that and develop the bikes a step further. Almeria is a good test track with plenty of turns and a near kilometre long straight, so it will provide new challenges for the team to overcome.

“It will be interesting to be on track with the Honda teams. Ryuichi Kiyonari is the reigning Champion and the benchmark we all want to beat. At the end of the test we’ll have an idea how we compare and that will give us new impetus for the next leg of our test programme at Guadix later in the week. ”

Prior to the Almeria test, you can meet the Rizla Suzuki riders on the official GSX-R1000 day at select UK authorised Suzuki dealerships on Saturday, February 24th.
