Valentino Rossi romped to his 100th career victory as he won the Dutch MotoGP at Assen to go clear in the MotoGP world championship standings. BBC Sport
The eight-time world champion finished five seconds clear of his Yamaha team-mate, Jorge Lorenzo of Spain, while Australian Casey Stoner was a distant third for Ducati.

Rossi is now five points clear of Lorenzo with another four points back to Stoner.
The Italian was on pole position but Stoner seized the lead at the start while Lorenzo was stuck in sixth after the first of the 26 laps despite starting from third.
Rossi soon took car of Stoner and Lorenzo fought his way up the field and was challenging Rossi with seven laps remaining while the Australian settled into third.
Rossi had a lead of over four seconds with four laps remaining and was never troubled to go on and take the race. Fox Sports

Teammate Jorge Lorenzo was once again forced to settle for second place, his third on the bounce. The Spaniard got off to a bad start from third on the grid and, although he was able to fight back up to the front, could not provide Rossi with the same challenge that he had done last time out.
Repsol Honda riders Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso had been in with a shout at the rostrum, but both took tumbles before the race took its full shape. There was also a late fall for Pramac Racing’s Mika Kallio when the Finn was challenging for sixth on the final lap. MotoGP
