Marlboro Ducati rider Casey Stoner won the BMW M Award at Jerez after setting the fastest time on the final day of testing ahead of the FIM MotoGP World Championship season.
The Australian rider was quickest around the Spanish circuit on the final day of testing as he scored a psychological blow in his battle with defending champion Valentino Rossi.
Stoner’s best lap of one minute 38.646 seconds earned him the keys of a brand new BMW 135i in the livery of the BMW Sauber F1 team.
Stoner and Rossi look to be the main contenders for the 2009 title after the Italian was second quickest with a time of 1:39.365 on the Fiat Yamaha.
