Jorge Lorenzo has reportedly received a £13 million pay offer to quit Yamaha and move to Ducati.
The deal on the table for Lorenzo is £13 million for a two year contract with Ducati which comes just as HRC announced that they will not be signing the 22 year old rider.
Ducati are currently in an unstable position, with endless speculation surrounding Casey Stoner’s mystery illness that has put him out of MotoGP until October at the earliest. As a result of this instability, it has been reported that they are keen to sign Lorenzo in a move that would see the rider switching from Yamaha to Ducati. Insidebikes
Marlboro is ready to bankroll a swoop for Lorenzo with the tobacco giant anxious to capture a big name should Stoner’s health issues drag on. Stoner is undertaking a period of complete rest to try and regain fitness for a planned return to action at the Estoril round in Portugal in early October.
Lorenzo said: “Ducati is an option. The important is to have a bike that can win the championship. It seems the Yamaha is the best right now,” Motorcycle News
