The mystery illness that has been hampering Casey Stoner’s MotoGP campaign has been identified, as the championship battle heads to Germany for round nine.
Ducati rider Stoner was this week diagnosed with anaemia, which affected his performances in the past three grands prix, but still managed to finish third, third and fourth respectively.
The Australian also heads to Germany with a rib injury, suffered in a qualifying crash last round at Laguna Seca.
The 2007 world champion is hopeful the German round will be the beginning of a resurgence in his championship campaign.
“I still feel like I am 100 per cent but the biggest problem now is that my ribs are very painful after the crash in qualifying in the US,” Stoner said.
“It will probably be another hard weekend in Germany, but as always we will do our best to stay as much as possible close to the lead of the Championship.” Fox Sports
