Spain’s Aleix Espargaro has been handed a two-race chance in MotoGP as a result of Casey Stoner’s sick leave.
With Mika Kallio filling in for Stoner at Ducati, there is a vacancy at the Pramac team, and the 20-year-old former 125cc rider has been drafted in.
It is an amazing change of fortune for Espargaro, who was without a regular ride in any class this year but caught the eye deputising in the 250cc class. BBC Sport
“I am very happy as this season has been very hard for me. We are beginning a project for next year to be back in the World Championship and this will be a good occasion to get back in touch with my world. This season I have ridden for a couple of races in the 250cc category in Assen and Sachsenring concluding in fourth and seventh position therefore I feel physically ready. It’s like a dream come true to find myself all of a sudden in MotoGP”, he said. “I want to thank the Pramac Racing Team that is giving me this opportunity to compete at the top level of Motorcycle road racing.” Yahoo!
