Italian racing legend Giacomo Agostini will take to the roads of Ballymoney on Monday evening as the undoubted star attraction of this year’s Roon Tha Toon.
Mick Grant will also be in town on his Kawasaki. Fifteen-times Grand Prix World Champion Agostini is perhaps the best known motorcycle racer in the world, alongside fellow countryman and MotoGP icon Valentino Rossi.
The pair caused a huge stir at the Isle of Man TT races last month, when Rossi flew in to watch the Superbike race and take part in a demonstration lap of the Mountain circuit to the delight of the thousands of fans.
Agostini’s association with MV Agusta is the stuff of legend and the exotic marque will be his machine of choice in Ballymoney.
His battles with old adversary Phil Read are legendary and the pair will be reunited in the Toon, with Read also due to make a special appearance at the festival.
Home-grown heroes will also be represented at the Japanese Vintage Motorcycle Club-organised annual summer jamboree, with Dromara Destroyers kingpin Ray McCullough riding a Yamaha.
Former racer and motorcycle pundit Jamie Whitham will join in the fun and compere the event next month, while Ian Simpson will be accompanied by his father Bill.
