Ducati
From June 28th through July 1st, the world’s Ducatisti, along with all others passionate about motorcycling, will descend on the Adriatic coast for the big international festival put on by the house of Borgo Panigale, “World Ducati Week.” The setting for this fifth edition of the “Red Planet” will be the Misano World Circuit, where there will be racing, entertainment, and concerts throughout the week.
World Ducati Week has always been synonymous with parties and entertainment, and this year will be no different. However, with the addition of a major local event, WDW 2007 will offer even more fun and excitement. On the night of June 30th, the entire Adriatic Riviera from Rimini to Cattolica will rock to the rhythm of the ‘Notte Rosa,’ the second annual overnight event organized by the Province of Rimini in celebration of summer.
In its first public outing, Ducati factory rider Vittoriano Guareschi will ride the long awaited and technologically advanced Desmosedici RR in front of thousands of Ducati fans at the Misano circuit, the site of the project’s announcement at WDW 2004.
Speed, performance and passion will not only be on the ground, but also in the sky. For the first time at WDW, there will be a flight demonstration by the “Frecce Tricolori,” the acrobatic team of the Italian air force. On Saturday morning, June 30, at 11:10, the skies over the Misano circuit will be painted red, white and green in a breathtaking show of acrobatics.
Using a second track within the Misano circuit, experienced riders will be able to test ride the exciting new Ducati Hypermotard 1100, the revolutionary Multistrada and the iconic Monster. For those who would like to learn how to ride a motorcycle, beginners’ courses are scheduled on this second track as well. Ducati will be offering participants their most experienced instructors in order to help perfect their riding skills in a safe environment.
For the sharpest Ducatisti, professors from the ‘Ducati University’; made up of Ducati technicians, designers and directors, will hold conferences on topics such as design and mechanics.
Friday and Saturday will be dedicated entirely to the riders of the Ducati Xerox Team that participates in the World Superbike Championship. Two time world champion Troy Bayliss and his team-mate, Lorenzo Lanzi, will be at the circuit for a series of events that will see them involved both on the track with their Ducati 999F07 machines and off-track with visitors in the paddock.
Joining the current factory riders will be several legends of Ducati’s past, including Giuliano Maoggi, Cook Neilson, Paul Smart and many others who will all take to the track for parade laps in the seats of historic Ducatis with which they took countless victories.
On Saturday afternoon, the Moto GP Dutch TT Race in Assen will be broadcasted live on two giant screens set up in the Misano paddock. On Sunday, the MotoGP riders, Loris Capirossi and world championship leader Casey Stoner, will arrive at Misano in the morning directly from Assen.
MUSIC ON STAGE: Throughout the weekend, the WDW stage will be lit up by great bands and cover groups nightly.
On Thursday, the Ducati Band, a cover band made up entirely of Ducati employees, will play a variety of music, to be followed by the Bonomia Sound Machine, a famous band in the local Bolognese musical scene.
The Lucchinelli Band, which is led by former Moto GP rider Marco Lucchinelli, will be playing on Friday evening. Afterwards, there will be the T-jam band, currently one of the most spectacular groups.
As a thank you to all of its passionate fans, Ducati will be hosting an unforgettable concert on Saturday evening: performing on stage at 10:30 pm will be rock star Patti Smith. Born in 1946, Smith - considered by many to be the most influential woman in the history of rock - rose to fame with her album Horses in 1975. One of her most famous songs, Because the Night, was written three years later with Bruce Springsteen. She has just released her twelfth album, Twelve, produced in collaboration with other famous artists such as Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It contains covers of songs by the The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder and other famous rock and pop stars which Smith has infused with her own personal and unique style.
The time for all passionate motorcycle fans to be together will be June 28th at the Misano World Circuit for the breathtaking WORLD DUCATI WEEK 2007. Participants will have the chance to meet the fastest riders in the world and experience the heated atmosphere of the Ducati universe with the entire world’s Ducatisti celebrating together.
Ducati’s partners in this event are Shell Advance, Alice, XEROX, Sandisk and the Provincia di Rimini.
