With a thousand pounds on offer, motorcycle racers will be flocking to Brands Hatch next weekend (29/30 September) for the penultimate meeting in the British Motorcycle Racing Club championship.
The BMCRC (also known as Bemsee) annual ‘Champion of Brands’ contest is the highlight of an action-packed weekend, with riders in the Supersport 600, Powerbikes and Forza classes competing for their share in a prize fund. Local talent Steve Mercer from Maidstone is hoping to be one of the 38 fastest riders to make it through to the two final races on Sunday, with the winner claiming £600 and the Champion of Brands AMC Trophy. Second and third place will be awarded £300 and £100 respectively, with those who fail to qualify for the final taking part in a separate trophy fight.
Three times World Sidecar champions Tim Reeves and Patrick Farrance will also be in action, bidding for the British F1 Sidecar title in what is expected to be a riveting three-wheel race. The category has a huge following, thanks to the unique sight of passengers hanging off their machine as they glide round the bends, and both the F1 and F2 sidecars will take to the track next weekend.
Other racing categories competing include the Aprilia RS125 Superteens, Yamaha Past Masters, Rookie and Clubman 400, Thunderbikes, Superbike 400 and Triumph 675 Challenge.
1. Tim Reeves and Patrick Farrance will be racing to win the FSRA/MRO British F1 Sidecar Championships at Brands Hatch this weekend.
