Kris Ayres of Wellington had his reasons for taking a day off work at a copy supply company to get a picture of himself with an arm around the shoulder of race driving star Danica Patrick.
“She’s beautiful,” said Ayres, 27, who made certain he was first in a long, outdoor autograph line, “and she’s good at what she does.”
Not a bad marketing pitch right there, as if Danica needed any help. Already she has been a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, which helps explain Wednesday’s promotional appearance to mark the 30th anniversary of the Rapids Water Park, and she’s appeared in the most-watched Super Bowl commercial for 2009 and, oh, yeah, she’s been a winner on the sleek and dangerous IndyCar circuit, too, taking a 300-mile race in Japan last year. Patrick, arguably, the most-marketed driver in all of IndyCar Series right now, made a stop by the water park in between events on the Indy Car tour.

Last week the series was in Watkins Glen, N.Y., and the sun and fun was apparently a nice diversion for all of the speculation circulating around Patrick. AHN
Even though she said her largest fan base, not surprisingly, outside of the racing circuit is men 18 to 34, she said she’s lucky to have a lot of fans who “are the full spectrum of gender and ages.” WPBF
