Lewis Hamilton and Nicole Scherzinger have split up.
The 26-year-old F1 racing driver - who is seven years younger than his girlfriend - decided to call time on their relationship because their conflicting work schedules meant they were seeing less and less of each other.
The sportsman and Miss Scherzinger - who rose to fame as part of The Pussycat Dolls pop group - had been dating for four years.
A friend said: ‘Yes, they’ve split. It’s a real shame because Nicole really tried to make it work.
‘They are still very good friends and it was an amicable split, but they just decided it was impossible to keep the relationship going with such conflicting work schedules.’
The Hawaiian-born singer is part of the judging panel on X Factor USA, alongside Simon Cowell.
As a result, she is based in Los Angeles, California.
Hamilton, meanwhile, travels all over the world as one of the leading drivers in F1 and has a home in Switzerland. Daily Mail
“They’ve spoken at length about it but agreed there’s no point as they never see each other. They spend their whole time on opposite sides of the world.”
The source added, “Although they came to an amicable decision, Nicole is actually devastated about it. She thought Lewis was the one.”

The McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh also hinted at behind-the-scenes troubles, saying that “professionally, he’s happy”.
Asked if there was something else on Hamilton’s mind away from the job, Whitmarsh replied: “I comment on his professional life. He says he is happy, and any other inquiry regarding his state of happiness should be directed to Lewis and not me. He’s had a lot of speculation about him and his private life, which he doesn’t want, and doesn’t welcome I’m sure.” The Guardian
Scherzinger and Hamilton met in November 2007 at the European Music Awards in Munich, yet announced their relationship six months later at the Monaco Grand Prix . There were unconfirmed reports and speculation that the couple became engaged in July.
