Take it from defending NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Todd Bodine: Fielding an unprecedented four full-time entries in 2011 hasn’t overtaxed Germain Racing.
Although Bodine still is working his way toward the top of the points standings, he’s solidly among the top 10. Three of Germain’s drivers – Bodine, Max Papis and Brendan Gaughan – rank among the top 15 in what Bodine calls “the most competitive” season yet in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
“It hasn’t gone quite the way we liked but we’ve run well,” said Bodine, seventh in points with one top-five finish. Papis is ninth and Gaughan 14th. Justin Lofton currently stands 19th).
Deals with Gaughan and Lofton didn’t come together until shortly before the season and the team played catch-up to get new trucks built. “We didn’t get a big jump on getting trucks prepared,” said Bodine. “It takes a lot of work to keep four trucks running but they (the crew) do a good job. It’s incredible how well prepared the trucks are. Every truck, every week, (they’re) 110 percent.”
