Crawford won the pole for the Kroger 250 that’s scheduled for Saturday afternoon at Martinsville Speedway, his first pole of the season, fifth of his career and first since Texas last fall.
“I wanted to qualify because I thought we had a truck that could sit on the pole,” said Crawford, who hasn’t finished better than 14th in the season’s first three races.

“We’ve gotten some bruises; we’re not bleeding.
“We went testing for two days and threw a lot of things at these trucks. We found out what we had, what we didn’t have and what we needed.”
