Rain and impending darkness forced NASCAR officials to postpone the O’Reilly Auto Parts 250 Camping World Truck Series race at Kansas Speedway until 10:00 a.m. (et) Monday.
Heavy thunderstorms with flashes of lightning moved through the 1.5-mile track. Fifty three of the scheduled 167 laps were completed before the red flag was displayed, halting the race. NASCAR made the call to reschedule the event at 6:30 p.m. local time.
The IndyCar Series is scheduled to run a 300-mile race at Kansas on Sunday afternoon.
The weather forecast for the Kansas City area Sunday calls for severe thunderstorms with a 70 percent chance of rain. An 80 percent chance of rain is in the outlook for Monday. MiamiHerald.com

“Those are the ones who deserve the credit,” truck racer Rick Crawford said of the fans who endured heavy rain before the race was called. “They are the true race fans.”
For truck racers, their race teams and NASCAR officials, a three-day weekend in Kansas City is now looking like a five-day stay.
“It (stinks),” said racer J.J Yeley, who started 25th in Saturday’s race. “Our team is based out of Texas and a lot of our team is in Charlotte, so you’re kind of stuck here. Luckily there isn’t a race for a few weeks, but it still causes problems. You plan to be here for three days and pack for three days. I guess we’ll either go to the store or the laundromat.” Kansas City Star
