ON WINNING THE DRIVER OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR THE THIRD QUARTER OF 2009:
“First of all that is a really big honor, but I should accept that trophy for KHI (Kevin Harvick, Inc.) and the whole team. You are only as good as your team and your truck. I have been real fortunate to drive for Kevin and DeLana (Harvick). They have given me great equipment to achieve that accomplishment. That really means a lot. To be the only Truck (NASCAR Camping World Truck Series) driver so far to win that, that is pretty cool. There are a lot of other Truck drivers that make me look good, to put on the good races we put on in the Camping World Truck Series, to be able to win that. So on behalf of all of NASCAR and everybody as well as all of KHI, thanks for that award that was pretty cool.”
WHAT IS YOUR REACTION TO THE NEW RULE CHANGES FOR 2010 FOR THE TRUCK SERIES?
“I have been in this series a long time and I have seen a lot of rule changes. Whatever NASCAR does, I know it is always for the good. Whatever has changed, I really haven’t seen them all, but, I know with what Wayne (Auton, NCWTS Director) and everybody has put together, I know they have studied it very hard with what they have done this year. It is great racing, bringing different winners in there and mixing up the field. Whatever they change and whatever they do, I have been here since ’95 in the Truck Series, I left it for a couple of years to go Nationwide and Cup racing, every time I come back, it is bigger and better. Hopefully this brings more people out there and more trucks and more team owners.”
WHAT ABOUT YOU CHANGE ABOUT THE REVERSAL OF THE PIT STOP RULE?
“Can they change it for today? (LAUGHS) That is the biggest deal right now. I think Daytona we were allowed to change tires and fuel on the same stop, so this will be the first superspeedway that we have to worry about putting tires on or just fuel or what. It is going to take a lot out of it, how you look at it, I don’t know. It has worked out this year. Going back to putting fuel in and putting tires on, we’ve seemed to make it work this year, so we will make it work next year. It is always cool, NASCAR always studies things, they don’t just jump in to things. I enjoy racing in the Camping World Truck Series and I like I said, whatever they change, we will adapt to it. I am sure Rick Ren (crew chief) will put his mind to whatever we have got to change on the team and get better at it.”
