Kyle Busch managed to be a kingpin in the Camping World Truck Series this season despite the fact he drove in only 16 of the circuit’s 25 races.

Busch put an exclamation mark on his Truck run Friday night by roaring past Ron Hornaday Jr. on the last restart and winning the Ford 200, the Truck season’s final race.

The win gave Busch eight victories in 16 Truck races. Busch’s new Kyle Busch Motorsports team also won the series owner’s championship.  FOX News

``I don’t know how he does it,’’ said Hornaday, the only four-time champion of the truck series. ``Kyle passed me like I was standing still. He gets such a side draft leaning up in the corner. I’ll learn that sometime.’’

Bodine was hoping to also claim the ownership title. But for the first time in the history of the series, the owners title was not won by the champion drivers’ team.

Busch made sure his team’s debut was successful, winning eight of the 16 races he ran in the 25-event series. Brian Ickler, Kasey Kahne and Johnny Benson also drove the No. 18 Toyota.

``We barely made it to Daytona with a couple of trucks,’’ Busch said with confetti stuck on his race suit. ``These guys worked some long hours this year.’’ MiamiHerald.com

“This is so cool to come out here and win in our last race, and in the style that we did,” Busch said. “It’s fun to come out here and participate in the Truck races.

“For me, it’s great to race in this series, with guys like Ron Hornaday and Todd Bodine. Congratulations to Todd for winning the driver’s championship.”

The driver’s title is the second for Bodine at Germain Racing. He also won the championship in the 2006 season.

“I never thought I’d be a one-time champion, let alone a two-time champion,” Bodine said. “It’s hard in a career to be a part of a group that cares as much as this one and is as good as this one. I count my blessings every day.”

Johnny Sauter finished third and Aric Almirola, who ended up second in series points, was fifth. Austin Dillon, who finished 31st, was named the series’ rookie of the year.  Charlotte Observer
