Kyle Busch won his first NASCAR championship as an owner the best way possible - with a win.

Busch passed Ron Hornaday on a restart with four of 134 laps remaining and held on to win Friday night’s Ford 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The win allowed Busch’s No. 51 Toyota team to clinch the 2010 Truck Series owner’s championship. Driver Todd Bodine, who finished fourth in Friday’s race, clinched the driver’s title last weekend at Phoenix. Charlotte Observer

Johnny Sauter ran third, followed by 2010 Truck Series champion Todd Bodine and Aric Almirola, second in the standings this year.

Austin Dillon, the grandson of NASCAR owner Richard Childress, won the truck series Rookie of the Year award with a season that included two victories. It was the first season Richard Childress Racing fielded a team in the truck series since 1999.

Dillon edged out Busch to win his truck series-record seventh pole. Dillon averaged 170.6 mph.

But Dillon’s chance to win the race ended when he tried to squeeze through an opening of trucks going three wide. Four wide was too much and he slid up into the wall with 19 laps to go. MiamiHerald.com
