In a season where seemingly nothing can go wrong, good fortune smiled on Todd Bodine once again during Saturday’s Too Tough to Tame 200 Truck Series race at Darlington Raceway.
The series leader by 174 points coming into the race, Bodine cruised to his second consecutive win and third this season in the first Truck Series race at Darlington since 2004.
The key moment of the race occurred with 47 laps to go when Austin Dillon elected to give up the lead and pit for tires under caution. Expecting Bodine and others to follow suit before the finish, Dillon dropped outside the top 10 in the running order and never challenged for the lead again as a flurry of late cautions allowed the leaders to remain on track without needing to stop for tires or fuel.

“That was no Sunday drive, but I knew I had to go with Timothy behind me,” Bodine said.
Bodine increased his lead to 231 points over Aric Almirola, who finished ninth. Ten races remain in the season.
“We got it going on,” said Bodine, the 2006 Truck Series champion. “We struggled at the beginning of the year, but [crew chief] Mike Hillman Jr. has changed it around, and here we are. We’re getting faster every week. It’s nice to be able to get some wins and drive this way.”

The race was sprinkled with cautions, most for multi-truck incidents.
A turn-one spin by Dennis Setzer after contact with Dillon produced the night’s first caution on lap five, and Jason White’s spin five laps later brought out caution No. 2.
On lap 97, Mario Gosselin lost control of his truck, slid across the track and made contact with the rear of Ricky Carmichael’s Chevrolet, sending Carmichael hard into the outside wall. Neither driver finished the race.
Ten laps later, David Starr, Mike Skinner and Brian Ickler were involved in a hard turn-one crash. FOXNews
