Marcos Ambrose didn’t drive like a man in limbo.

Though his future is uncertain, with his announced departure from JTG/Daugherty Racing for parts—or team—unknown, Ambrose drove immaculately Saturday afternoon in picking up his third consecutive Nationwide Series victory at Watkins Glen International, winning the Zippo 200 from the pole.

During a 16-lap run to the finish, Ambrose pulled away to win by 2.834 seconds over Joey Logano, who, for once, was happy to settle for second place. NASCAR.com

Cautions near the end of the race bunched the field behind Ambrose, but his JTG-Daugherty racer had the punch to stay in front each time. “We’re going to try to do the double here this weekend and take one tomorrow, too,” Ambrose said, referring to Sunday’s Heluva Good at the Glen Sprint Cup race.

“We had nothing for the 47 [Ambrose],” Logano said. “He’s the man. He’s pretty good here.”

Following the top three to the finish were series point leader Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch.

“This is huge for us winning here; what a great day for our guys,” said Ambrose, whose three career Nationwide victories have all come at Watkins Glen.

Ambrose’s win at Watkins Glen was redemption after last year’s Nationwide road course race at Montreal, as well as the Sprint Cup event at Sonoma, CA in June.

Ambrose will attempt the weekend sweep at Watkins Glen. He will start 11th in Sunday’s 90-lap Sprint Cup Series race here.

“You know, I’m saying goodbye to JTG [Daugherty] Racing at the end of the year, so it’s just nice to get some wins for them,” he said. “Hopefully, we can do it in the Cup Series tomorrow, but this one is really sweet.”

Just after a restart on lap 24, Jason Leffler triggered a 10-car pileup. Leffler got loose and bumped into Trevor Bayne. NASCAR halted the race for 25 minutes after Tony Raines’ car came to rest on the hood of Billy Johnson’s car. Boris Said also landed on top of Brendan Gaughan.  MiamiHerald.com
