A spate of late caution periods played into Greg Biffle’s hands Friday night, as the driver of the No. 16 Ford held off Jason Leffler to win the Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 Nationwide Series race at Phoenix International Raceway, team owner Jack Roush’s 100th victory in the series.
Biffle beat Leffler to the stripe by. 338 seconds in a green-white-checkered-flag finish to win his second Nationwide race of the season and the 20th of his career. Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick completed the top five. NASCAR
“I thought we were sitting ducks, but these tires were so good, “ Biffle said. “Once the tires cooled down under the caution that everybody pitted on, the car took off again and just hauled.”

Roush, who turns 67 years old on Sunday, became the first team owner in the series to record 100 wins.
“We’re happy about the 100 wins, “ Roush said. “There’s been a lot of great drivers and a lot of great teams that have done it over the years. We’re going to enjoy the moment.” Miami Herald
“We were running eighth there. We didn’t even think about pitting there, track position is so important, “ Leffler said.

But he knew catching Biffle would be difficult.
“My only chance was on a restart, “ Leffler said. “If he made a mistake, I would have been there to capitalize. “
Brad Keselowski finished third for the third consecutive week. Joey Logano, last week’s winner at Nashville, was fourth and was followed by Kevin Harvick.
