Carl Edwards did not let a penalty for speeding on pit road slow him down Saturday night, as he regained position quickly and dominated the field en route to a victory at Nashville Superspeedway in the Federated Auto Parts 300.

After leading from Laps 59 to 82, Edwards made a yellow-flag pit stop but approached his stall a bit too fast, and was forced to restart in the 14th position. However, it only took him 37 laps to regain the lead and backflip his way into Victory Lane at Nashville for the sixth time in his career—five times in the Nationwide Series and once in the Truck Series. “This car is unreal. It is super fast,” said Edwards, who collected his fifth Nationwide win of the season and sixth overall in 2011. “It’s really fun to drive here.”

Edwards said he hopes going into the grandstands after wins catches on among the rest of the drivers in NASCAR.

“I hope the other drivers will do that,” Edwards said. “To give some people high fives is the neatest part of the post-race.”

Edwards’ Roush Fenway teammate, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., finished second — his second top-five finish this season at Nashville. Austin Dillon, who won Friday night’s Camping World Truck Series race, finished third. Justin Allgaier was fourth and Aric Almirola was fifth. The Tennessean

“I feel a lot better (after winning),” Edwards said in Victory Lane.

“Carl’s awesome here. I felt like he was kind of playing with us a little there at the end,” Stenhouse said. “We’ll take a second and go onto (the next race).”

Keselowski, the pole winner, was in command of the race when he radioed his crew that he was slowing due to a dropped cylinder on lap 166. Dillon took advantage of the situation and passed the defending series champion for the lead.

Keselowski led 88 laps and placed 12th.

Elliott Sadler came into the race as the series points leader, but surrendered it to Reed Sorenson when he broke down on pit lane during the third caution period of the race.

Sadler came in 30th place and is now third in the championship, 14 points back. Sorenson is five points ahead of Stenhouse to lead the points battle. Seattle Post Intelligencer

Sam Hornish Jr. finished sixth, and Drew Herring took the seventh spot. Herring drove the No.18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, which is normally occupied by Kyle Busch.

Trevor Bayne and Kenny Wallace completed the top-10.
