Storylines come in bunches this weekend, many in the form of must-watch milestones. Below are some of the upcoming milestones for the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Kentucky Speedway.
• Three drivers have reached the 400-start plateau – Jason Keller (519), Kenny Wallace (505) and Tommy Houston (417). This weekend, Mike Wallace will have the chance to join his brother (Kenny) and the aforementioned drivers in the 400 starts club.
• David Green, the 1994 NASCAR Nationwide Series champion and Owensboro native also is one start shy of 400 for his career. However Green has not raced full-time in the series since 2006. He has made two starts this year. Green’s brother Jeff, the 2001 series champion (they’re the only brothers to have won the series title) is entered at Kentucky, driving for TriStar Motorsports.
• Also Mike Wallace’s nephew Steve Wallace will be making his 175th series start at Kentucky Speedway.
• Carl Edwards needs to lead just one more lap to reach the 5,000 lap led mark.
• Mark Martin (49) and Kyle Busch (48) are entered in this weekend’s event. Martin leads the series in all-time wins, and Kentucky is the last event he is scheduled to drive for Turner Motorsports this season.
• Kevin Harvick can tie Tommy Houston’s record for the all-time series lead in top-10 finishes (198) at Kentucky this weekend. Harvick won the inaugural race at Kentucky in 2001.
