Elliott Sadler topped Kyle Busch in Friday’s qualifying for the O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge Nationwide Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.

Sadler, who led the way in practice earlier in the day, posted a lap at 186.348 mph around the fast 1.5-mile track for his fifth pole of the season and the 11th of his Nationwide career. He won the pole at Texas for the first time in 1998.

Busch qualified just 0.004 seconds behind Sadler. He has won the most Nationwide races at Texas with six.

Joey Logano took the third spot, followed by Ricky Stenhouse Jr., the current points leader, and Clint Bowyer. Fox News

Danica Patrick qualified 11th for her first competition since the Oct. 16 IndyCar Series finale at Las Vegas, where two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon lost his life during a 15-car accident. Patrick’s car and helmet feature paint schemes honoring Wheldon.
