Carl Edwards knew he had to get everything he could on a restart with two laps left in Saturday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway.
Kyle Busch, who finished second to Edwards, was convinced the race winner got too much.
Nevertheless, after a green-white-checkered finish, it was Edwards who celebrated his third win of the season and the 28th of his career, after thwarting Busch’s attempt to win his record sixth consecutive Nationwide Series race at the 1.5-mile track. NASCAR.com
“It felt good to stand up there with all the people,” said Edwards, who scored his third NNS win in 2010. “I really enjoyed it. I almost didn’t get back to the race car but that would have been ok too, That was a good group of people up there.”
“It was Carl’s 50th NASCAR victory,” Roush said. “I was glad to be with his first and I was glad to be there with his 50th. I hope I can there for his 100th as well — and maybe more than that — his first championship and his next championship and the championship after that.” FOXSports.com
Joey Logano finished fourth, followed by Martin Truex Jr.
