Carl Edwards opted for a light burnout on the track instead of the usual celebratory backflip from his car after winning Friday’s Virginia 529 College Savings 250 Nationwide Series race at Richmond International Raceway. MiamiHerald.com
“My guys were the one [Friday night] that made this one happen,” Edwards said. “That was a great pit stop. “We’re trying to catch Kyle, and we needed a run like this to do it. [Crew chief] Dan Stillman and all these guys did it for me [Friday night].
“We were probably going to run second, but that pit stop was what got me to Victory Lane.” NASCAR
Harvick finished second, followed by Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski and David Reutimann.
The victory allowed Edwards to gain 20 points on Busch in the standings, but he still trails by 201 points with eight races remaining, and Busch would have to falter badly.
“These guys have picked up some grip somewhere,” Busch said. “I don’t think we’ve lost anything. These guys have just gotten better. We’ve got to do some homework.” The Associated Press
