Joey Logano didn’t lead Friday night’s Subway Jalapeno 250 until the final half mile, but that was all the 21-year-old driver of the No. 20 Toyota needed to notch his first victory at Daytona International Speedway.
Leffler ran second followed by series points leader Reed Sorenson.
Sorenson’s strong finish and monetary bonus comes on the heels of his victory last week at Road America, which was his first of the season. He holds a nine-point lead over Elliott Sadler in the series standings.
“At the end, Jason Leffler found us and that’s the third time in a row we’ve worked together in the restrictor-plate races,” Sorenson said. “I knew we were going to have a big run there on that last lap.”
With the win, Sorenson joins Leffler, Justin Allgaier and Michael Annett as drivers eligible for the next $100,000 bonus, in the Aug. 6 race at Iowa Speedway.
