Carl Edwards held off tenacious Brad Keselowski to win Friday night’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 at Texas Motor Speedway.
The victory was Edwards’ second at Texas, his first of the season, the 30th of his career and the first for the new Ford Mustang in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
Paul Menard finished third, with Joey Logano and Elliott Sadler rounding out the top five.
Series leader Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who started fourth, finished eighth. Although Stenhouse hasn’t won this season, it was his fifth top-10 finish in six races. He is 14 points ahead of Jason Leffler, who finished 15th.
In fact, no Nationwide points contender has won this season. All six have been won by Cup drivers.
