Kyle Busch made sure his lengthy commute was worthwhile, as he spanked the field in Saturday night’s U.S. Cellular 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Iowa Speedway.
After briefly losing the lead on pit road under caution, the 25-year-old Las Vegas native passed Kevin Harvick with 25 laps to go to seal the win in his all-conquering No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota.
Harvick held on to take second in his Kevin Harvick Inc. Chevrolet, followed by Jason Leffler’s Braun Racing Toyota. NNS points leader Brad Keselowski and 19-year-old Trevor Bayne completed the top five. FOXNews
“It’s pretty phenomenal the race cars these guys put out,” Busch said. “This is my 54th win in a Toyota.”
“I didn’t think we had it, because it was the same car and the same feel we had last year,” Busch added. “I was thinking, ‘it’s just not coming off the corner the way I needed it to.’ But we were able to dial it in and get it to where we needed it.”
Steve Wallace, Michael Annett, Justin Allgaier, Matt DiBenedetto and Carl Edwards completed the top-10.
Keselowski slightly increased his lead to 231 points over Edwards. MiamiHerald.com
