Brad Keselowski finally got a chance to celebrate in the winner’s circle at Gateway International Raceway.
Keselowski captured the NASCAR Nationwide 5-Hour Energy 250 on Saturday, using a well-timed pit stop to roll past Reed Sorenson with two laps remaining at Gateway International Raceway.
Keselowski’s sixth victory of the season and No. 12 for his career came three months after he lost a race at the suburban St. Louis oval on a last-lap tangle with rival Carl Edwards. Keselowski has a near-insurmountable 485-point lead over Edwards in the series standings with three races remaining. The Canadian Press
“I don’t look back at the race and say, ‘I’m going to win this other race and show ’em,’ because I think you’re entering with the wrong mindset when you do that,” Keselowski said. “I enter with the mindset that it’s another race and to do your best and to bring your ‘A’ game.
“If you’re worried or thinking about what you feel like were misgivings in the past, I don’t think you can do that. I’ve never thought of it that way and still don’t.” NASCAR.com
The race was halted for more than 20 minutes due to a 10-car pileup just past the halfway point. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Scott Wimmer made contact and slammed into the wall, triggering the incident. Patrick was one of the drivers involved in the major wreck.
Patrick encountered a track bar issue after being tagged in the incident. She spun around and backed it into the wall in the closing laps, forcing the sixth and final caution. Patrick wound up finishing 22nd. Last week, she finished a Nationwide career-best 21st at Charlotte. MiamiHerald.com
