Ambrose made a gutsy move to pass Busch for the lead in the Inner Loop on the 64th lap, paving the way to his capturing the NASCAR Nationwide Series Zippo 200 on Saturday at Watkins Glen International for the second year in a row.
Despite the ill will, the title for bad blood of the day had to go to Robby Gordon and Joey Logano.
Gordon was running as high as second a little more than midway through the race, but his tire went down after contact with Logano on the 66th lap, essentially removing him from contention.
Gordon got even on the 72nd lap, continually banging into Logano and eventually forcing him off course.
“We apparently got into a little grudge match,” Logano said. “You can’t fix stupid. Stupid is forever.”
The 40-year-old Gordon finished 14th; the 19-year-old Logano 33rd.
