Casey Mears Getting A Raw Deal?

Casey Mears is getting a raw deal, period. This is only his second full season with Hendrick Motorsports and he appears to be out the door. To be replaced by the retiring Mark Martin. If rumors are true, the No. 5 car will be shared by Martin, Landon Cassil, and Brad Kesolowski. This just doesn’t make sense.

All season long we have listened to Mark Martin go on and on gushing about how great DEI is, how fast his cars are, and yada, yada, yada. But now, there is a sudden silence from DEI’s biggest cheerleader.

What changed? But more importantly why should a driver who has been trying to retire for years take precedent over someone who is in the sport for the long haul? Again, it just doesn’t make sense.

It is unfair for Hendrick to let him go without really giving him a chance. More effort should be put into the No. 5 car and not treated as the afterthought of Hendrick Motorsports stable.
