Kahne Discusses Racing in the LifeLock.com 400 at Chicagoland:
What are your thoughts on racing at Chicagoland this weekend?
“I’ve qualified well at Chicago, but never had great finishes there. I feel like this is our year to get some good finishes on tracks like Chicagoland and Kansas where we have struggled in the past. I’m looking forward to racing at Chicagoland under the lights. It should add a lot more excitement to the race.”
Are there any concerns with going to tracks like Chicagoland for the first time in the COT?
“With the road course racing for the first time in the COT, I felt like we adjusted pretty easily. Kansas and Chicago are going to be tough tracks. I’ve never been that great at either one of them. We’ve had (good) moments, but it will be different (in the COT). I think that some of the things that the (GEM) guys have done in the last month will help at those tracks. I think that we’ll be real good.”
How much difference has it made recently to know that you’ve got a good race car underneath you?
“It allows you to just think about racing and passing the car in front of you and doing everything you can to give back the right information. What it’s all about is giving (the crew chief) the right information to make the next adjustment and when you have a car that is close; it’s easier then when the car is way off. The adjustments are a lot smaller and they improve the car.”
