Four days after winning his first Sprint Cup race, David Reutimann won his second pole of the season and the third of his career, qualifying his No. 00 Toyota in the top spot for Sunday’s Autism Speaks 400 at Dover International Speedway.
The 11th driver to make a qualifying run, Reutimann turned his lap at the Monster Mile in 22.960 seconds (156.794 mph) to edge Kasey Kahne (156.542 mph) for the No. 1 starting position. Kahne was first on the track for time trials, but only Reutimann could top the No. 9 Dodge, which is powered for the first time this season by the Dodge R6 engine. NASCAR.com

“We unloaded and felt like the car was pretty good and made some small adjustments to it as the course of practice went on and in the end I was actually a little concerned about it if it was going to be fast enough because the car got pretty tight compared to what we had in our practice run,” Reutimann said.
“We lost a little bit of time from what we did in practice, but the Aaron’s Dream Machine was good. [Crew chief] Rodney Childers made the right adjustments. We were just a little bit tight. That [Toyota Racing Development] horsepower got us to the corners there and got us to the other end. So it was a good enough lap and I wasn’t really sure it was going to hold up but I’m thankful that it did.” Hartford Courant
Kasey Kahne was second and Juan Pablo Montoya qualified third. Reed Sorenson and Greg Biffle round out the top five.

Kahne used a new Dodge engine in the No. 9 to catapult him to his best start of the season.
“I can really tell the difference,” Kahne said. “The new engine is something that we’ve needed and I think that it’s going to be really good with cars around me as well.”
Dale Earnhardt Jr. had his best qualifying lap since Talladega and will start 22nd with team manager Brian Whitesell calling the shots. Lance McGrew takes over next week at Pocono Raceway as the interim crew chief.
