AT MICHIGAN: In 32 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at Michigan International Speedway, Jeff Gordon has posted two wins, 15 top-five finishes and 20 top-10s. He also has earned five pole positions and led 899 laps. His average start at the two-mile oval is 8.6, and his average finish is 11.8.
MOST RECENTLY: Gordon, driver of the No. 24 DuPont/National Guard “Year of the NCO” Chevrolet, ran inside the top 15 for the first 94 laps at Michigan last August before being involved in an accident. He went on to finish 42nd in the 200-lap event. Last June, Gordon finished 18th at MIS.
YEAR OF THE NCO: This weekend at Michigan, the National Guard’s “Year of the Non-Commissioned Officers (NCO)” program will be showcased on the hood of the No. 24 DuPont/National Guard Chevrolet. The Secretary of the Army established 2009 as the Year of the NCO in recognition of these soldiers’ commitment to service and willingness to make great sacrifices on behalf of our nation. Referred to as the “Backbone of the Army,” NCOs will be recognized throughout 2009.
ON HIS GAME: According to NASCAR’s loop data statistics, Gordon ranks first in average starting spot (5.6) in the last eight races at Michigan. During that same timeframe, he has achieved a fifth-place ranking in laps led (105), average finish (19.1) and percentage of laps led (6.8 percent).

SECOND IN POINTS: Gordon and the No. 24 Chevrolet team currently sit second in the Sprint Cup standings with 12 races remaining until the Chase for the Sprint Cup. Gordon trails leader Tony Stewart by 71 points.
BRINGING BACK A WINNER: Crew chief Steve Letarte has chosen Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 24-503 for Sunday’s race at Michigan. This is the same car that Gordon drove to Victory Lane at Texas Motor Speedway on April 5.
HENDRICK AT MICHIGAN: Hendrick Motorsports, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, has scored four wins, 33 top-five finishes, 64 top-10s and has led 1,563 laps at the two-mile Michigan oval. Ricky Rudd drove the No. 5 Chevrolet to score Hendrick Motorsports’ first win at MIS on June 20, 1993.
NATIONAL GUARD JOINS THE NO. 24 TEAM: This season, Gordon and the No. 24 team are helping to bring awareness to the National Guard’s community initiatives, which will be showcased on the No. 24 DuPont/National Guard Chevrolet in eight Sprint Cup Series events. The first three National Guard-sponsored races were at Atlanta Motor Speedway in March, Texas Motor Speedway in April and Darlington (S.C.) Raceway in May. In addition to this weekend at Michigan, Gordon will partner with the National Guard at four other venues: Chicagoland Speedway on July 11, Richmond (Va.) International Raceway on Sept. 12, New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sept. 20, and Martinsville (Va.) Speedway on Oct. 25.
