AT NEW HAMPSHIRE: In 29 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Jeff Gordon has posted three wins, 13 top-five finishes and 16 top-10s. He also has earned three pole positions and led 1,205 laps. Gordon’s average start at the 1.058-mile track is 10th, and his average finish is 11.3.
LAST TIME AT NEW HAMPSHIRE: Gordon, driver of the No. 24 DuPont/National Guard Yellow Ribbon Chevrolet, started second and scored a second-place finish in June at New Hampshire. He led 64 laps and spent 271 laps (99.3 percent) of the laps in the top 15.
STATS IN THE NATIONAL GUARD CAR: In every outing with the National Guard on the hood of his No. 24 Chevrolet this season, Gordon has scored a top-five finish. His best effort was a win at Texas Motor Speedway (April), while he also scored runner-up finishes at Atlanta Motor Speedway in March, Michigan International Speedway in June and Chicagoland Speedway in July. He finished fifth at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway in May and third at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway on Saturday.
LOOP DATA AT NEW HAMPSHIRE: According to NASCAR’s loop data, which was compiled during the last nine races at New Hampshire, Gordon ranks in the top five in several categories—first in average running position (6.963), first in laps in the top 15 (2413), second in driver rating (109.4), second in fastest drivers early in a run (124.975 mph), second in fastest laps run (240), second in fastest on restarts (120.558 mph), second in green flag speed (124.380 mph) and fifth in fastest drivers late in a run (123.510 mph).
DRIVER STANDINGS: Gordon and the No. 24 Chevrolet team enter the first race of the Chase for the Sprint Cup sixth in the standings going into Sunday’s race at New Hampshire. This season, Gordon has scored one win, 12 top-five finishes, 18 top-10s and has led 698 laps.
NEW HAMPSHIRE CHASSIS: Crew chief Steve Letarte has chosen Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 24-542 for Sunday’s race at New Hampshire. Gordon drove this particular car to an eighth-place finish at Richmond in May and a second-place finish at New Hampshire in June.
HENDRICK AT NEW HAMPSHIRE: Hendrick Motorsports, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this season, has six wins, 27 top-five finishes and 44 top-10s in 102 starts at Loudon, N.H.
NATIONAL GUARD JOINS THE NO. 24 TEAM: This season, Gordon and the No. 24 team are helping to bring awareness to the National Guard’s community initiatives, which will be showcased on the No. 24 DuPont/National Guard Chevrolet in eight Sprint Cup Series events. In addition to this weekend at New Hampshire, Gordon’s final race with the National Guard will be at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway on Oct. 25.
