Kahne Discusses Racing in the LifeLock 400:

What can we expect this weekend at Michigan?
“There is so much racing room out there that you have to really work on your setup.  I feel like this is one of the tracks where it is really critical to have a good aero and engine package. The racing at Michigan can be great at times. It also can be a race where cars run away and get strung out and there’s not a lot of passing going on. As far as the width of the racetrack and racing groove, there’s plenty of room. If you have a good car, you’ll be able to pass and it will be a fun race.”

Did you like the double-file restart rule last weekend?
“Overall I thought it was good. It helped us some times and some restarts it hurt us. It all depends on if your lane takes off or not. We were racing with the cars that we should be racing.  Whether you’re a lap down and you’re racing with the lap down cars or you’re on the lead lap and racing with the lead lap cars. You do not have to pass guys that are just as fast and ended up a lap down because they had one bad run.”

Are you running the R6 engine this weekend?
“Yes. We didn’t have it in Pocono because we just don’t have enough of them (built).  I’m looking forward to running it this weekend because Michigan is definitely an engine track. From what I felt in Dover, it was a big improvement.  I think the engine runs better off the corner and it gets you down the straightaway better.”
