The Home Depot Team Notes of Interest

·    Joey Logano heads back to Michigan International Speedway (MIS) this weekend for his second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start in the No. 20 Home Depot Toyota at the 2-mile track.  In the June race at MIS, Logano fell a lap down to the leader early with only three caution flags the entire 200-lap race.  He was unable to get his lap back and settled for a 25th-place finish despite running with the top 15 cars the second half of the event.

·  Logano remains 19th in the NSCS standings after his 16th-place finish at Watkins Glen International.  Logano spun mid-race and hit a guard rail to avoid the spinning, airborne car of Sam Hornish Jr., to rally back and earn his 12th top-20 finish of the season.  He is now just 70 points out of 18th behind Jeff Burton.  In the last 15 races, Logano has completed all but two laps of Sprint Cup Series competition.

·  The Home Depot Team is taking chassis #247 to the track this weekend for the CARFAX 400 at MIS.  This will be the second time this chassis has competed this season.  Logano drove this car at Indianapolis Motor Speedway to a 12th-place finish.

·  Logano continues to lead the Raybestos Rookie standings over Scott Speed after the race at Watkins Glen International.  He is atop the standings by 22 points (207-185).  Logano earned rookie of the race honors at Michigan in June with his 25th-place finish.

Logano Quotes:

On Michigan

“I’m actually looking forward to going back to Michigan.  It should be much better than the first time we were there.  After going to Pocono for the second time you realize how much further you are ahead now with a race under your belt.  We have our own notes to go off of now and we should be able to work on the car when we unload.

“We had a solid point’s day in Watkins Glen so I am pretty happy about that.  I messed up once and got caught up in the incident with (Sam) Hornish and (Jeff) Gordon.  But the team fixed the car and got me back out on the track to finish 16th.  We really want to stay in the top 20 and work toward finishing in the top 15.”
