NASCAR Drivers Pull Double Duty to Leave Their Mark at Nashville Superspeedway

Pulling “double duty” is old hat for NASCAR veterans like Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch. The two drivers spent the entire 2009 season bouncing from one track to another racing in both the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series. Edwards continues to balance both series full-time while Busch has reduced his schedule to part-time, driving in mostly companion races, with the exception of Nashville Superspeedway.

Busch will join fellow NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers Edwards, Brad Keselowski, Paul Menard, Kevin Harvick, Joe Nemechek, Michael McDowell and Joey Logano as those planning to enter the April 3, 2010 NASCAR Nationwide Series race in Nashville.

Harvick, driver of the No. 29 Shell-Pennzoil Chevrolet in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and owner of Kevin Harvick Inc., will strap in for KHI in both the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Friday, April 2 and the NASCAR Nationwide Series race on Saturday, April 3. A former winner in the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Nashville (April 15, 2006), Harvick looks to leave his mark on Nashville by becoming the first driver to win a NASCAR doubleheader at the Superspeedway.

“I haven’t raced at Nashville Superspeedway since I won my last Nationwide Series championship in 2006,” said Harvick, a two-time NASCAR Nationwide Series champion. “I’m looking forward to going back and seeing how it has changed. I am really optimistic about our chances. (Ron) Hornaday and his team had a really solid package there last year and I think we can even improve on that this year with some of the things we have learned through testing and R&D work. I would like to put another guitar in the trophy case.”

Young up-and-comer James Buescher will also compete in both Nashville races with Turner Motorsports on April 2 and Phoenix Racing on April 3. He is competing full-time in the NASCAR Nationwide Series and is eligible for the Raybestos Rookie of the Year award.

The April 3 NASCAR Nationwide Series race will be stacked with former winners – including Edwards, Harvick, Keselowski, Busch and Logano, and Nationwide Series regulars Scott Riggs, Jason Leffler and Reed Sorenson – meaning that the level of competition will be elevated higher than ever before.

NASCAR comes to Nashville Superspeedway on April 2-3, 2010 with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the NASCAR Nationwide Series. The NASCAR Nationwide Series returns to Nashville again this season June 4-5, 2010, followed by a second stop in Nashville for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series on Aug. 7, 2010.
