It might be a good week for Kurt Busch to play the lottery.
When rained forced the cancelation of Friday’s scheduled qualifying session for Saturday night’s Sprint All-Star Race, Kurt Busch was awarded the pole on the basis of his No. 1 pick in the qualifying draw.
Joey Logano, who was voted into the race by fans last year, will start beside Busch on the front row. Though he was pleased to get the second spot, Logano was disappointed not to have a shot at the All-Star Race’s unique qualifying format, which requires a pit stop during the time trials.
Brad Keselowski and Daytona 500 winner Jamie McMurray will line up on the second row, followed by Kyle Busch and David Reutimann. Defending race winner Tony Stewart starts 11th.
Four-time defending points champion Jimmie Johnson will start seventh and Jeff Gordon eighth. NASCAR.com
