Ragan was on track for a win in the incredible Daytona 500, but was penalised for a re-start infringement in the final two laps, handing victory to rookie Trevor Bayne.
Ragan was again leading at the final re-start in the Daytona CokeZero 400, and this time avoided penalties to record his first NASCAR Sprint Cup win ahead of Matt Kenseth and Joey Logano. FOX Sports
With the victory, the Unadilla, Ga., native made amends for a gaffe in the Daytona 500 when he was black-flagged for changing lanes before a restart and handed the lead to winner Trevor Bayne.
“Everyone kept talking about it,” Ragan said. “I tried to zero it out and take the positives from it.”
Among the early exits was Bayne, who finished last after conquering the Daytona 500 in his second Sprint Cup start four and a half months ago. He qualified second but spun into the Turn 1 wall on Lap 5 after being pushed by Brad Keselowski. USA Today
