There was a time when Mark Martin wondered whether he could still do this.
Those doubts all seem silly now.
Despite late concerns about having enough fuel, Martin, 50, won his second race of the year Saturday night at Darlington Raceway. It was also Martin’s second win at the track. The win came a few days after Martin extended his contract with Hendrick Motorsports to race the full season in 2010. Los Angeles Times
“Once we got out front, man, it was just easy. The car was awesome,” Martin said.
“We don’t need to say we’re going to win a whole bunch of races,” Martin said. “Don’t take those kind of answers from me as pessimistic, or a lack of confidence. All I want to do is be happy and have fun doing this.”
Martin’s only other Darlington win was in the 1993 Southern 500, a 16-year stretch. The Associated Press
