NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points leader Kevin Harvick, No. 29 Shell-Pennzoil Chevrolet will start on the pole of the Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500 at Martinsville as rain cancels qualifying.
The 43-car field will be set per the provisions of the rulebook. Five Team Chevy drivers will start in the top-10 for Sunday’s race.
Four-time defending champion Jimmie Johnson, No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet will roll off third for the 500-lap/263-mile race.
Two-time champion Tony Stewart, No. 14 Old Spice/Office Depot Chevrolet, will roll of fifth. Jeff Burton, No. 31 Caterpillar Chevrolet has the seventh starting position. Dale Earnhardt, Jr., No. 88 AMP Energy Sugar Free Lightning/National Guard Chevrolet will start in eighth place.
Matt Kenseth (Ford) and Greg Biffle (Ford) complete the top-five starters.

“Obviously this is the place where if you’re going to have that happen (qualifying canceled due to rain) and start up front, this is the place you want to do it. But this is a good place to have that happen and I’m looking forward to both races (Truck & Cup).”

“I think for us it is obviously a lot of weekends a year that the points-leader gets to benefit from rain and I’m glad that for us, it was this weekend. But yeah, we’ve had a good solid five weeks and that’s what we set out to do at the beginning of the year was to start well and run solid and run up front and lead laps and we’ve been fortunate to do that. Hopefully we can have 31 (weeks) more.”
